Ray was born in Sunderland and studied art at the Sunderland School of Art and Industrial Design. On leaving college Ray mad the move into a career as a graphic artist and illustrator, this was the pathe Ray's career followed for some 30 years until he took the decision to paint professionally.
As Ray's career has developed so painting has become a way of life for him. Using his preferred watercolour medium of gouache his unique and meticulus style which captures the feeling of speed and atmosphere really does bring the spectacle of the racetrack to life.
The best compliment Ray is paid is that the drivers and riders are happy to sign and endorse the images he has painted of them. To date Ray's editions have been signed by iconic drivers and riders including Valentino Rossi, Carl Fogarty, Colin McRae, RIchard Burns, John McGuinness and Jenson Button.
